mad-balletSo begins the dance of violence. Unfortunately, when he lunges at me, some instinct kicks in and I step aside. He crashes to the floor. Needless to say that pisses him off royally. I feel like laughing. What’s wrong with you? The more you fight him the worse it gets…don’t laugh either… I can’t help it…He takes a swan dive and it all seems to be in slow motion. I feel like I’m standing outside my body, watching all of this happening to someone else.

He gets up, rage in his eyes, and jumps at me again. But I’m quicker and he lands head first into the TV table. He starts to roar with anger and comes after me once more. For some reason, I stand there waiving my arms like I’m a matador holding a red cape in front of an angry bull. He runs, like he’s playing football, intent on tackling me. This time he connects and we both go flying into the wall, my head making a big hole in the cheap plaster. This wakes me from this reverie I was floating in.

He gets up and just as he’s about to put his foot in my ribs, I turn over and he kicks air. The follow through makes him lose his balance and, again, he hits the floor. Except this time I burst out laughing, which is a big mistake. Now, when he gets up, I’m not fast enough and he grabs my hair. That mobilizes me instantly. But when he grabs my throat, he lets go of the hair, and I grab his arms. We basically throw each other around, from the living room to the kitchen. He’s maneuvering me towards the basement door. Anyone watching this would be tempted to think we’re auditioning for a Jackie Chan movie, as we duck and dodge, kick and claw.

But when we reach the hallway, arms and legs and bodies thrashing, we look like insane dancers in a mad ballet. We almost fall into the shower in the hallway and I think it’s just a matter of time before we wake the babies. In front of the basement door, we switch positions, as he tries to unlock the thing, and I try to stop him. He then punches my in the mouth. It’s enough to daze me and he gets the door unlocked. He punches me again and that allows him to open it. But when he tries to send me flying down the stairs, I’m hanging on to him for dear life. I kick and scream and he becomes aware, that if I’m going down those stairs, he’s coming with me.

Somehow, he slams the door shut and pins me against it. He gets in my face so close, I think he’s going to bite me. In fact, I’m so sure of it, that I shriek and blast him in the balls with my knee. Both his arms go up, then down to his crotch and he slams into the opposite wall. I step towards the babies’ room, and he punches me one to the head so hard, I fall into the doorway of the bedroom. I open my eyes to see Linus standing over me and my heart freakin stops. That’s when he pushes her to get at me. She falls over and gets the corner of the dresser, square in the face. She screams; he stops and I go berserk.

She screams even more when she sees blood on my face. I go to pieces…she’s now witnessed this madness…
